It doesn’t matter when or where, when Carly Rae performs it’s always a good time. And I must admit, I strutted on the floor with the rest of the audience when she sang “Good Time” and Call Me Maybe”. I could probably do an epic job lip syncing “Call Me Maybe” at Spike’s Lip Sync Battle… just sayin’.
Fresh from her stint as the iconic Pink Lady, “Frenchy” in Fox’s Grease Live, Carly put on a high octane performance at City National Grove of Anaheim on Friday, Feb. 25th. Clad in a gold long sleeve shift dress, she reminded me of the 2016 Oscar campaign “We all dream in gold”. Maybe it was just coincidental? Regardless, Carly was rockin’ her gold outfit and sportin’ a cool hair style à la Joan Jett.

Jepsen made her entrance singing “Run Away With Me” at 9:25 p.m. From beginning to end it was non-stop entertainment. I feel silly saying that I only know two of her songs, “Call Me Maybe” and “Good Time”, because 99% of the audience sang to every song at the concert. If you don’t know every song, you will feel left out. Her song “Emotion” was one of the audience favorites. It was like listening to a thunderous chorus of millennials. Her crowd included 10-year olds to Gen-Xers with tween kids of their own.
Carly Rae Jepsen – Gimme Love Tour
Jepsen perfectly blazed through a slew of upbeat songs from her newest album E·MO·TION including “Making the Most of the Night“, “Warm Blood“, “Boy Problems“, “Favourite Color“, “I Didn’t Just Come Here To Dance” and more. The multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter also reminisced about the first time she came to LA, where she met Justin Bieber, The Kardashians and had long conversations with Mike Tyson. Then she followed with the song “LA Hallucinations”.
There was no elaborate production or over-the-top costumes…. just Carly’s impeccable voice, her electro-pop repertoire, her youthful band, and her tremendous joy in performing.
Jonathan, who came all the way from San Diego to see Carly said, “It was so much fun. She had me dancing the entire time. I was going cray-cray. I loved it. I was so impressed. She was so fun to watch. I felt so happy.”
The “Gimme Love” concert was flawless. There was no intermission or encore…all straight-up singin’ and dancin’ to CRJ’s happy tunes.
