It’s always a pleasure to watch Lisa Loeb live whether it be an afternoon kid’s show or a night concert. She always sings brilliantly and always make it a point to interact with the audience. I have seen her concert several times and she never fails to entertain me. What you see on stage is what you get when you talk to Lisa. I had a wonderful opportunity to interview Lisa a couple years ago and she was modest and really down to earth. Last Saturday, April 18th, I went to Loeb’s concert at The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano. She sang old and new songs.

One new song she performed was for the upcoming movie “Helicopter Mom“. She described the song coming from a mom’s perspective. One thing I particularly like about Lisa’s music is that she writes or co-writes all of her songs … Loeb always has stories behind the songs, stories about herself and her 90s life.

I am a 90s girl, so I can easily relate to her perspective on life…it’s ups and downs. One specific song that I relate to is “No Fairy Tale.” She said, “Instead of trying to make your life a perfect fairy tale sometimes your life is a little empty that way. But when you actually have its ups and downs in life, that you actually have a more full and rich life. The song that followed the song called ‘Sick Sick Sick’ and that’s sort of  starts with the feeling that a glass is half empty but it ended with the glass half full.”

One audience member in her 20s named Maran Wendell said, “I thought the concert was awesome. I’m a long time fan of Lisa Loeb. I listened to her when I was about seven or eight. My mom would play the music and I knew all the words. My babysitter would come over….and I would play the whole album. This is just really awesome to see her live.”

After the concert, Lisa had a meet and greet and autograph signing. What the fans mostly enjoyed was having a photo op with her. And I was stoked when Lisa signed my CD and wrote “I love popbuff.com” That was the highlight of my night.
