guitarist of a successful recording and touring act of the late ‘70s, “The Runaways”, played a significant part of the band’s sound. With the band’s signature single, “Cherry Bomb” in 1979, they became an international sensation especially in Japan.

In 2010, a movie was made about “The Runaways” and premiered at The Sundance Film Festival starring Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie, Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett, Scout Taylor-Compton as Lita Ford and Alia Shawkat as Robin (fictional character).

Last April 13, I was fortunate to chat with Lita Ford at The Hollywood Show. She was warm and genuinely looked like a rock star.

Popbuff: Are you guys touring at the moment?
LF: We are. We are doing the weekend warrior shows right now where we go out and play for the weekend. Then during the week I come back and write. I’m just finishing up writing my book which has been an all day event. I’m also working on a new album so I’m juggling writing and the weekend warrior.

Popbuff: How do you like the intimacy of this event – The Hollywood Show?
LF: It’s been amazing and very nice. I really enjoy and love it. It’s a good work for me because I get to know the fans and see them up front, give them a hug, talk to them about their kids and family.

Popbuff: Do you see any new talents following your footsteps?
LF: Many. Halestorm and Orianthi . There are so many of them out there now which has been great to see.

Popbuff: I’m sure you get this question all the time. Is there a chance for a reunion with Joann Jett?
LF: That question you would have to ask Joann. Cherie and I are hoping.

Popbuff: Are there any bands that you like or listen to a lot of times?
LF: Most of the stuff I listen to is the Joshua Tree album by U2 and some old music from Elton John.

Popbuff: What do you like to do when you’re not touring or writing?
LF: I’m never not touring or writing. If I’m not working I usually sleep. That’s what keeps me lookin’ good. People ask ‘how do you stay lookin’ young,’ I say I sleep. People get wrecked when they don’t sleep.

Popbuff: How do you see yourself 10 years from now?
LF: Hopefully still onstage. I wanna die on a freakin’ stage. That’s my place, that’s my haven.

Popbuff: Any words for the fans?
LF: I love you. Follow your heart and don’t let anybody get in your way.
