I grew up watching Neil Patrick Harris in Doogie Howser, M.D. in the late 80s and early ’90s. The theme song was catchy that it often played in my mind after the show as I drifted off to sleep so I think subconsciously, it might have influenced me to be a blogger. Toward the end of every episode, Howser would enter his thoughts on his computer diary, which now commonly known as a blog.
For millennials, Harris is best known as Barney Stinson in the television series “How I Met Your Mother” for which he was nominated for four Emmy Awards. It was such a great come back for him that Harris was named as one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people in 2010.In addition,he was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2011.
This year Neil Patrick Harris is busy as ever. He was one of the cast of the hit thriller film Gone Girl, will be hosting The Oscar’s Award next year and just released his autobiography entitled. “You Are The Star in N.P. H.’s Life Story! Neil Patrick Harris Choose Your Own Autobiography.” The book is written in second person and it’s sprinkled with humour and wittiness. According to NPHbook.com, “Choose correctly and you’ll find fame, fortune, and true love. Choose incorrectly and you’ll find misery, heartbreak, and a guest stint on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.” In addition to choosing your story, there are also random recipes, magic tricks, and songs.
Fast forward 20 years, after four years watching Doogie during my teen years, I am able to meet NPH last Oct. 24th in person as a part of the press at his book signing event at Barnes and Noble at The Grove in Los Angeles. As he walked on the podium, NPH looked svelte on his gray collared shirt with ash gray tie and casual black pants. He posed for the press for a little bit and went to the desk and started signing for the fans. Of course, as a fan I got to chat with him for a little bit and had him sign my book.

Jackson Glen from Venice California was the first in line. He said, “I heard they were going to do a book signing and I love ‘How I Met Your Mother’ and saw him in ‘Hedwig and the Angry Inch’ over the summer. I went over at 6 am, waited in line and I was the first person.” Cherish Kortesmaki from Playa del Rey giggly mentioned why she is there for NPH’s book signing, “Actually, this is my first book signing I’ve ever been to because he is awesome. He is the most charismatic. He can sing, act, dance like he can go straight from theatre to a movie. He is perfect and his got the best personality and he is so cute.”
