On March 31st, Anne Fontaine presented her spring-summer collection at South Coast Plaza, the upscale shopping center in Costa Mesa, California in Orange County. The event commenced with champagne served to the guests, followed by an introduction by Debra Downing, Executive Director of Marketing, at South Coast Plaza. The fashion show was well-attended by OC VIP’s and fashionistas, including TV personality, Emily Loftiss.
Prior to the fashion show, Fontaine greeted guests and had photo op’s with them. My mom, who is visiting from the Philippines, was attending her first fashion show in the U.S. She was giddy when she met the designer, Fontaine, and was thrilled to have a photo op with her.
Fontaine’s spring/summer collection is inspired by nature. Anne’s love for ecology is expressed through her designs – floral printed dresses, pants, and blazers, as well as earth-tones and soft mint green colors, tribal style embroidery, and lace in geometric motifs. The soft pastel colors are also represented in her accessories.
After the fashion show, I chatted with one of the VIP guests, Cindy Byrne (Firebrand Media publisher of Newport Beach Magazine) about what she thought of Anne Fontaine’s collection. She said, “I thought it was spectacular. It was a beautiful mix of modern and classic. The details were amazing. It was very enjoyable. Everything is so new and different; it makes me wanna go home and burn all my clothes (ha ha ha).”
About Anne Fontaine
After discovering an old trunk filled with white shirts, Brazilian-born Anne and her husband decided to take over his family’s clothing business. The Anne Fontaine Fashion house was born. Over the years, Fontaine made the white shirt as the main staple of her line in the same sense as the little black dress. The Anne Fontaine brand developed into a lifestyle brand through a complete wardrobe around the shirt, with a line of accessories.
Anne Fontaine pieces are sold in 70 retail shops around the world and distributed in several hundred multi-brands.
