Duran Duran, The Wild Boys Still Shine

I was a witness to one of the greatest comeback concert of the ‘80s iconic figures, Duran Duran at the Pacific Amphitheatre in Costa Mesa, CA. Simon Le Bon clad in a British flag jacket with white pants and black shirt still looked handsomely good.

As the superstar British group entered the stage, the audience got up, and danced to the mega hit tune. Le Bon was in excellent vocal form and the band still sounded amazing.

Opening the concert with the song Before The Rain followed by Planet Earth sounded like the album I bought 30 years ago. I know it’s a cliché but the superstar group is like a fine wine, they improve as they age.

After a couple of songs, Le Bon shouted, “Wow, there are so many of you tonight.” Yes there were so many of us that the 8,500 hard seat of the amphitheatre were filled and the lawn area was clogged with avid Duranies.

I observed two generations  – Gen Xers and some of them brought their offsprings. In fact, Le Bon added in the middle of the concert, “Some of you are in a 30-year relationship with us.” And how amazing those 30 years have gone by.

After Le Bon rendered a couple of hits, he left the stage and walked to the audience and gave the mic to one lucky fan. The fan started to sing Tah na na, tah na na and obviously the audience got it. It was time for The Reflex. Audience raved and got crazier.

Duran Duran’s Latest Studio Album

The tour was part of the latest studio album, All You Need Is Now. It consist of the bands’ greatest hits like Hungry Like the Wolf, Ordinary, World, Notorious and other hits.

There were no over the top or flamboyant production just great music with the wild boys from England who still and will always shine.
