Yasss, I’m back on the red carpet. It feels so good to be out and about and covering a fashion event. It is my first time to feature the La Jolla International Fashion Film Festival on July 24th at The Cut location in San Diego. The La Jolla International Fashion Film Festival, now in its 12th year, is the first and only fashion film festival established in North America. Comprised of cosmopolitan glamor, it’s where accomplished designers and directors showcase their masterpieces.
Founded in 2009 by Fred Sweet, a veteran in the modeling and fashion industry in San Diego, the event is dubbed as The Cannes of the fashion film world. I had a chance to have a little chat with Fred Sweet about the successful turnout of the festival. “I’m very happy with the turnout. With the virus still an issue we weren’t sure what was gonna happen, so to see these many people come out it’s really gratifying. And we did it outside because we want to have some awareness of the virus. Some people have masks, some don’t, but the enthusiasm is there whether they are wearing a mask or they’re not. La Jolla is known for great good vibes, good energy and it’s so gratifying that I’m seeing it tonight.”
Luxury designer Patrick Cupid, mentioned it’s his first time at LJIFFF. Patrick received two film nominations for his film “Quaranta Paradigm”. He remarked, “I’m really, really excited. It’s my first foray into the fashion film. It was a huge surprise and a blessing just to be here.”
Overall, the La Jolla International Fashion Film Fest was a cheerful celebration recognizing creative professionals worldwide. I had a great time taking in the haute couture outfits and the delightful alfresco ambiance.
