On August 29th, I attended one of the most momentous nights of the summer art season: The Celebrity Benefit Concert and Pageant at the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts. The star studded one-night affair kicked off with a red carpet event attended by celebrities such as Shemar Moore (Criminal Minds), Donny Most (Happy Days), Joe Mantegna (Criminal Minds), Paget Brewster (Criminal Minds), Connie Francis (iconic singer), Joely Fisher (’90s Ellen Sitcom Series), Mark Steins (Host of Hallmark’s The Home and Family Show), Aisha Tyler (The Talk), Jane Seymour (Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman) and Mira Sorvino (Best Supporting Academy Winner Mighty Aphrodite). I was able to ask questions to some of the celebrities about Pageant of the Masters and their upcoming projects. (See video below)
Grammy winner Melissa Manchester performed to nearly 3,000 fans. After the concert, guests proceeded to the Irvine Bowl to enjoy a special performance of the Pageant of the Masters hosted by Academy Award-winner Mira Sorvino. Sorvino drew the winning tickets for a 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata GT. The gala event grossed approximately $270,000 for future arts programming and the Building Fund for improvements of the Festival of Arts and Pageant of the Masters facility.
