Some of you may already be familiar with Fleurs De Villes, which has been exhibited at South Coast Plaza for the past four years. While it’s the event’s fourth year overall, this marks only my third year attending, and each spring, I eagerly anticipate the media preview. Despite the consistent concept, the theme changes annually, adding to the excitement. This year’s theme, ‘ARTISTE,’ celebrates the works of remarkable artists from diverse disciplines, featuring over 15 stunning floral mannequins.
Co-founded by Karen Marshall and Tina Barkley, hailing from Vancouver, Canada, who share a deep passion for flowers and merge it with their marketing expertise. Their innovative vision led to the inception of Fleurs de Villes in 2016, aimed at reinventing the conventional flower show format. Since its inception, Karen and Tina have ardently championed local floral talent, expanding their reach to 23 cities across 4 countries. Their dedication has spotlighted the creativity of over 700 florists through more than 60 floral exhibitions. The name “Fleurs De Villes,” translating to “Flowers of Cities” encapsulates their mission of promoting floral artistry and enriching experiences in global urban landscapes. This initiative represents a harmonious blend of building an esteemed international luxury brand while prioritizing authentic local narratives.
Debra Gunn Downing, Executive Director of Marketing at South Coast Plaza, eloquently describes the annual event at SCP, “Every year is spectacular. Each year has a different theme. This year is ARTISTE and is interpreted in many many different ways, you know from an artist to some sort of cultural representation, even a piece of art specifically. So I think it really is an open ended theme which I love and it ties in beautifully as a part of our 34th annual spring garden show which is across the street. This becomes wrapped into that event which i think place into it beautifully.”
This showcase of floral talent will be freely open to the public from April 25–28 mainly at the Jewel Court in South Coast Plaza and some mannequins are in Bear Street and The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel. For more info, click here.
