On November 24, the day after Thanksgiving, I went for a hike near the Ventura pier. I took a break to look at my Instagram account. I was tagged from @katharinestory with the message “We have a winner! Ruchel @popbuffruchel please contact the boutique or DM us to claim your prize.”
Sure, I joined the contest as so many people did but I never thought I would win the thing I’m crazy about….CLOTHES! Yes, I love clothes. Ever since I was a little girl, I would peruse catalogs from McCall’s and magazines where especially Brooke Shields was on the cover. So when I came back from my hike, I told my husband and my mother-in-law I won this prize and showed them Katharine Story‘s post that I won a $500 giveaway. They were so stoked. It was a great Thanksgiving gift.
I sure know the store and I know where it is located because I’ve been to Laguna Beach a hundred times and I’m always intrigued by what’s inside all the trendy boutiques. Finally on Saturday, December 2, after a week of seeing my name on Instagram, I visited Katharine Story with my mom (she is a fashionista) to claim my prize. On that day, she was also having a holiday party. The store is hip, with such colorful clothes, great music and wine. She describes her genre as Bohemian maximalist. As you enter, you’ll see a fireplace and a bench in front of the fireplace which makes the store so warm and cozy. While browsing, I was impressed with all the detail on the clothing items. I understand that each attire was handmade by the designer.
Meeting the designer
Finally, I met the designer Katharine Story. The talented designer was rockin’ a sequined mini skirt and top, just perfect for the celebration. She is very personable as well as her guests and other customers. I was introduced to her assistant to help me pick just the perfect outfit. My mom and I had the VIP treatment and he really took care of us. After a lot of browsing, I finally picked a great over sized kimono. The reason why I picked this one item is because you can wear it at formal events or even casual chic. And kimonos are very flexible- you can wear one with a dress, leggings, or even blue jeans.
