I could not be more stoked when I received an email that I was all set to see the taping of the Conan O’Brien Show at the Warner Bros. Studios last June 17. Thanks to a friend of mine who set us up at the VIP section. We reached the parking lot at 2 pm and went straight to the waiting area which was so convenient because it was on the same floor where we parked. There was a big “Conan” banner in the waiting area and they had great music to keep us entertained. There was even a souvenir store that sells Conan t-shirts. I purchased one. It says on the back “I was there Stage 15 Warner Bros. Studios“.
As we entered the studio, a replica of Conan appeared and a page handed us snacks. We sat down and the emcee welcomed and prepped the audience. The emcee was infectious with his enthusiasm and he gave away t-shirts. I was one of the lucky ones who got a Conan t-shirt. Later on, the emcee asked for volunteers to go up the stage. Without hesitation, I raised my hand. I didn’t even know what I was volunteering for. So, altogether 10 of us were on the stage. The emcee said whoever can dance really well to the song “I like Big Butts” by Sir-Mix-A-Lot will receive the grand prize. The contest will be judged by the audience. I gave it my best shot dancing…eventually everybody on stage won Conan t-shirts. Now I had a total of three Conan t-shirts. Yeah Baby!
When I got back to my seat, the band started to play music and engaged the audience. One of the highlights aside from seeing Conan O’Brien live was listening to Jimmy Vivino and the Basic Cable Band. I was blown away with their performance. The trumpet player was showcased. He held a high jazz note for something like five minutes. Everybody was chanting “Hold that note, hold that note………”
The guests that day were Microsoft Co-founder/LA Clippers owner Steve Ballmer and actor from the movie “Dope” Blake Anderson. Again, it was raining shirts in the audience section as Steve Ballmer and Blake Anderson were doing T-Shirt gun battle.
I can now literally checked off my bucket list and say “I danced on stage at the Conan show”. My next mission is to interview the pale Irish host, Conan O’Brien.
Special thanks to Roey H.
That’s Awesome!
