I first met Pia Amore Legaspi during the First Light concert with Arnel Pineda front man of the band Journey and Prince of Philippine Rock, Bamboo on Oct 2021 at City National Grove of Anaheim. When I talked to Pia that year, she looked calm but she told me that her blood pressure was very high. As any executive producer, I could not imagine what she goes through every show. The stress and the anxiety of producing a show is very high as anything can happen such as technical hiccups, audience expectations, artist being under the weather or being late, and many more. That is why Pia has become a force to be reckoned with in the concert arena. Amore Entertainment, the latest business unit in the Amore Group has produced many successful concerts not only Filipino artists but legendary international artists as well – from The Platters to The Lettermen to the Philippines’ Concert King Martin Nievera and Megastar Sharon Cuneta and the latest 4 Kings and Queen featuring Philippine Concert Queen Pops Fernandez and icon hitmakers Nonoy Zuniga, Hajii Alejandro, Marco Sison and Rey Valera.
Prior to Amore Entertainment, Pia founded Amore Culinary Innovations in 2010 as a cancer survivor looking to spread the benefits of healthy food preparation. Amore Culinary Innovations is one of the top direct dealers of Saladmaster in the world (400 authorized dealers in 72 countries). Her boundary-smashing work has garnered attention and was named Startup Company of the Year by the Filipino-American Chamber of Commerce of Orange County. Six years later, she branched out with Amore Care Services, providing in-home caregivers for seniors all over Los Angeles. Her vision and determination to push the boundaries eventually led to Amore Entertainment named after its founder’s birth name, “Amorfina”.
Inspite of her grueling schedule prior to the Hitmakers concert on June 26th, she was graciously enough to do a short interview.
Ruchel: How did you start with producing concerts?
Pia: First off, Amore Entertainment is the marketing and events company of Mi Amore Culinary Innovations. Filipinos love music and watching concerts so what better way to promote my first business by giving away free concert tickets. I like to promote both of my businesses at the same time. It’s like hitting two birds with one stone. So when we want to secure a demo for Salad Master, we generously give away free concert tickets. In that way, we create a buzz for both businesses.
Ruchel: What are the challenges of being a producer/promoter of concerts?
Pia: There are so many challenges of being a promoter. You can’t only talk to one handler and manager. Every state or city has its different coordinators with different type of personalities and different way running their businesses so you always have to adjust.
Ruchel: What has been your most memorable experience?
Pia: I remember when I produced the concert of Philippine Megastar Sharon Cuneta in 2019. The artist was so late and the audience were anxious and started to complain and was blaming me. Eventually Sharon showed up at 10:30 pm and explained why she was late because her flight was delayed. It wasn’t her fault nor my fault. Things like these were unexpected. In the long run, Sharon was well received and the audience were happy.
Ruchel: What words of advice can you give young entrepreneurs?
Pia: These are the words (5 P’s) I live by :
- Prayers
- Patience
- Persistence
- Perseverance
- Personality
Ruchel: You have a successful business, what’s still on your bucket list?
I really don’t have anything on my bucket list. I just want to inspire people regardless of their ages and genders. As I mentioned earlier, the 5 P’s are what motivate me and I hope they will follow that.
Ruchel: Let’s talk about what’s in the pipeline of Amore Entertainment?
Aside from for more Four Kings and a Queen tours, stay tuned for “Timeless” with Nonoy Zuniga and Lani Misalucha as well Jed Madela and Patti Austin.
Pia’s untiring love for her businesses is rapidly making a name for herself as the lady boss of Philippine live entertainment in the US. Her leadership has become an inspiration for many entrepreneurs out there.
