On Sept. 29th, Thursday the indie-pop and rock-infused sensation UPSAHL kicked off her “Headline” tour at the Constellation Room in Observatory Santa Ana, CA. Dressed in all-white where the crowd raged as soon as she entered the stage. I’ve never seen UPSAHL but this marks that I will be a regular on her shows, meaning I was blown away. UPSAHL interacted with the crowd by taking selfies with the fans, singing with the audience up close and good-natured bantering between tracks. Her arresting vocals combined punk, rock ballad and hard rock elements made the energy of the audience palpable in the standing-room-only venue. “Kiss Me Now”, “People Don’t Like”, “MoneyOnMyMind” were among the few where she showcased her powerhouse vocals and some of the best crowd moments – yelling lyrics at the top of their lungs.
UPSAHL’s stage presence was captivating. Her vocal prowess, chopping the beats with her guitar making her a certified rock star.
In just a few short years, UPSAHL has carved out a niche in songwriting for artists like Dua Lipa and Mike Shinoda. Recently, UPSAHL made her late-night television debut on The Late Late Show with James Corden on CBS.
In the fall of 2021, the singer/songwriter was one of People Magazine’s “Talented Emerging Artists Making Their Mark in 2022” and “a musical force to be reckoned with” by Nylon.
UPSAHL has every right to celebrate after all the show was packed to the brim.
