On February 14th, Valentine’s Day, I had the pleasure of attending the premiere showing of the 2024 LA Art Show at the Los Angeles Convention Center West Hall. It was my first time experiencing the exhibit, and I was impressed by its organization and scale. The event kicked off at 6 pm with a vibrant red carpet entrance. Notable figures such as Dain Yoon, the renowned artist from South Korea, Kinya Claiborne, a prominent style influencer and content creator, Jesse “Sulli” Sullivan, a respected content creator, and Luci Hale from Pretty Little Liars, were among the early attendees who graced the red carpet. I had the opportunity to chat with Claiborne and Sullivan in the VIP Lounge, where they shared their thoughts on being part of the LA Art Show and their support for the American Heart Association.
“I’ve actually been here more than 10 times over the past 10 years. It’s one of the best art shows I’ve ever been to. I love the diversity of art from painting to sculptures to photography. I think the heart of Los Angeles when it comes to the art scene. American Heart Association is a wonderful association. I love that this event gives back in such a good way.” – Kinya Claiborne, Style Influencer
“It feels great to be here. My dad actually passed away. He had a heart failure so I’d rather do this on Valentines Day than anything else.” – Jesse Sullivan, Content Creator
Following the excitement of the red carpet, the event transitioned to a captivating display of artwork from talented artists across various mediums. Each piece showcased a unique narrative, stirring a myriad of emotions within the audience. From dynamic paintings bursting with vibrant hues to thought-provoking sculptures that push the boundaries of creativity, there was something to enthrall every visitor’s imagination.
I had the pleasure of catching up with Robert Vargas, a renowned muralist known for his exceptional live painting showcases at the LA Art Show. Amidst the bustling event, Vargas was actively engaging with the audience, handpicking individuals to feature on his mural as a symbol of representation and unity for the #WorldHouse project. Reflecting on his 10th consecutive season at the art event, Vargas expressed his deep gratitude, stating, “It’s always an honor to paint here at the LA Art Show and of course being part of something that’s also in support of the American Heart Association is truly important. I put all my heart into my work and it’s great to see those two worlds meet on the day of love, the official day of hearts.”
At 7:00 pm, guests gathered at the Citi lounge for the welcome remarks and the American Heart Association presentation. The event was hosted by Lucy Hale and featured speakers such as Kassandra Voyagis, the LA Art Show Producer/Director; Damar Hamlin, NFL Player and National Ambassador for the Nations of Lifesavers’ Initiative; and Nancy Brown, CEO of the American Heart Association (AHA).
