The 12th Annual Los Angeles Comic Con drew an impressive 122,300 plus attendees, making my second attendance equally enjoyable. The event was well-organized, from acquiring press badges to attending panel discussions and photo ops. To save on parking costs, we chose a spot 20 minutes away from the convention center, allowing for a reasonable fee.
I attended various panels, including a standout discussion with The Office’s Rainn Wilson. With over 250 panels and programming throughout the weekend, the event celebrated talent in comics, gaming, anime, and pop culture. Highlights included a record-breaking Lord of the Rings cast panel and engaging discussions with stars like Matt Smith, Bonnie Wright, and the cast of The Boys. The photo-ops, especially with Matt Smith from The Crown where he played the young Prince Philip in seasons one and two, was one my personal favorites. Another favorite of mine was having the opportunity to chat with Elijah Wood from Lord of the Rings and asked him what’s the best part of being at Comic Con LA. “The best part of being here is meeting people, you know, interacting with folks, and seeing incredible cosplays, seeing the way that they interpret things that we do and just hearing kinda what makes them happy,” said Elijah Wood.
Chris DeMoulin, CEO at Comikaze Entertainment, L.A. Comic Con’s parent company said, “Los Angeles fans deserve a show that represents them and speaks to the eclectic, wonderful and diverse nature of creativity in our town.” He added “L.A. is the creative capital of the world, and we try to offer something that will resonate with you no matter what stripe of fandom you represent — from mainstream pop culture to activations around what is new and emerging, from comics to movies and TV to video games and anime. This year, all the fans, exhibitors, artists, talent, and cosplayers really brought their A-game because the energy at the Convention Center was electric all weekend long — inspiring us to continue to try to improve the fan experience year after year. We’re privileged to serve a community of fans who want to celebrate their favorite stories, creators, games and art with fellow fans and make lifelong memories through our halls.”
The 12th Annual Los Angeles Comic Con was a resounding success. The energy throughout the weekend was electric, inspiring continuous efforts to enhance the fan experience year after year. Overall, the convention succeeded in providing a platform for fans to celebrate their favorite stories, creators, games, and art while creating lasting memories.
As mentioned earlier, I thoroughly enjoyed myself, with the photo-ops and panel discussions standing out as my favorites. I eagerly anticipate the lineup for 2024.
