Anti-Cancer Challenge Celebration with Sheryl Crow

Sheryl Crow Headlines Anti-Cancer Challenge Celebration

The ’90s was the decade of grunge music and alternative rock. It was also the time where you could buy 10 CD’s in the mail and get a couple CD’s for free. I love all kinds of music  … and Sheryl Crow’s CD was one of the CD’s I bought during the 90s. The CD was “Tuesday Night Music Club” in 1993. Crow’s sound is diverse but yet distinctive. It is a blend of rock, blues, pop and country and that is what I like about it. The third song from her album “All I wanna Do” is about the California slacker culture. It became a breakout smash hit and uber popular among Gen-Xers. So going to the Anti-Cancer Challenge Celebration with Sheryl Crow on October 21st at the Bren Events Center in Irvine was a wonderful treat for me. Crow is not just a musical inspiration but a breast cancer survivor and advocate for social awareness.

The concert started with educating the audience about the UCI anti-cancer challenge history, facts and future events. That was followed shortly with the nine-time grammy awardee.  Her first song was “Everyday is a Winding Road.” After a couple of songs, the audience and fans walked to the pit – danced, cheered, swung their hands with hit songs like “Soak up the Sun”, “My Favorite Mistake”,  “Strong Enough”, and “Leaving Las Vegas”. The energy was at full blast. My friend and I were saying “Wow, she really had a lot of hits.” And that just made me reminisce about my life in the ’90s. My friend also mentioned, “She sounded like her record.” And indeed, she maintained that crisp beautiful voice.

We enjoyed all the songs. A amazing concert for a great cause. Crow filled the evening with beautiful memories and she sounds better than ever.
