Spotlight on Mimi Rogers: An Interview from The Hollywood Show

Talented actor Mimi Rogers at The Hollywood Show

What a delight it was to meet and interview actress Mimi Rogers at The Hollywood Show. Mimi is known for her standout performances in films such as Gung Ho (1986), Someone to Watch Over Me (1987), Desperate Hours (1990), and Full Body Massage (1995). She earned the most celebrated role of her career in the religious drama The Rapture (1991).

My very first glimpse of Mimi, however, was in one of my favorite TV shows from the ’80s—the modeling and fashion soap opera Paper Dolls. The moment I started speaking with her at The Hollywood Show, I couldn’t help but say, “I love Paper Dolls.” She immediately smiled and replied, “I love it too.” I was about 14 or 15 years old when the show premiered in 1984, and now, here I was meeting her in person—such an exciting full-circle moment.

This was Mimi Rogers’ first appearance at The Hollywood Show, where she proved to be warm, personable, and thoroughly enjoyed interacting with her fans. Here’s a short interview with Mimi Rogers from that day.

Ruchel: How does it feel to be here at The Hollywood Show?
Mimi: We don’t often get many opportunities to interact directly with the fans, so this is really exciting. Since we’re not doing live theater, it’s really cool to actually meet people, talk with them, and hear about their favorite shows.

Ruchel: You’ve had such a versatile career. What role do you feel challenged you the most as an actor?
Mimi: “The Rapture” for sure.

Ruchel: From The Rapture to Lost in Space, you’ve covered a wide range of genres. How do you choose your roles?
Mimi: Honestly, if it’s something that inspires me, makes me laugh, or feels like a role I can bring something interesting to—whether it’s a lead or a supporting part—I don’t really mind. As long as it’s something I can dig into and have fun with, that’s what really matters to me.

Ruchel: You’ve worked in both film and television. Do you have a preference?
Mimi: I really don’t. Some of the most challenging and interesting work today is happening on streaming, which to me feels like a blend of film and television. So no, I don’t really have a preference.

Ruchel: You’ve been in the spotlight since the ’80s. What advice would you give to younger actors?
Mimi: If you’re a working actor, be grateful every single day. Don’t take it for granted, and don’t get too big for your britches. If you’re working, you’re blessed. And if you’re not working, give it your all. I always tell people—if there’s anything else you’d rather do, then do it. But if acting feels as essential to you as breathing, then pursue it, because it’s a tough business.

Ruchel: Can you share a recent project or appearance you’re especially excited about?
Mimi: Yes! I recently went to Arkansas for the Bentonville Film Festival, where a film I did last year called Adult Children had its premiere. Betsy Brandt and I flew out together for the festival, and it was such an exciting experience.

And in March 2025, I worked on a really fun but scary movie with Heather Graham. It’s based on the famous Doris Bither case from the late 1970s—a haunting so well known that UCLA’s parapsychology department got involved. I play the head of that department, and we wrapped filming at the end of March. I’m not sure yet when it will be released.
Of course, there’s also Bosch: Legacy—Season 3 will be streaming soon, along with all the earlier seasons.

It was a true pleasure interviewing Mimi Rogers at The Hollywood Show. Her openness, humor, and passion for storytelling remind us why she continues to be such a compelling presence in both film and television. Fans can certainly look forward to more exciting projects from her in the near future.
